New sod – Go for spring or fall

Spring and fall seasons are the best times to lay sod in Florida.

  • Make sure no freezes are possible before laying sod.
  • As a general rule, keep the soil moist three inches below the surface when establishing the sod.

Newly sodded areas can be watered more often for 30 days.

  • Days 1–10: Twice a day
  • Days 11–20: Reduce frequency
  • Days 21–30: Transition to 2-day schedule
