Hopkins Park Septic to Sewer

Toho’s crews began initial project work in September 2026. We expect to start connecting individual homes in March 2027. We will give homeowners plenty of advance notice before any work begins on their property.

Already Happened

• Sign-Up: Homeowners formally opted in by signing Toho's authorization letter.
• Property Prep: We filmed a quick pre-construction video of the property to document its current condition.
• Locating Utilities: Our team located existing septic tanks, drain fields, water lines, and other underground utilities.

Currently Happening

• Homeowner Conversations: Our team will meet individually with each homeowner to discuss the project as it relates to their property and work through any expectations and concerns before work begins.
• Line Extension: We extend the sewer line from the edge of the property to the home’s connection point.
• Testing First: Toho tests and inspects the new sewer system to make sure everything is working perfectly before we connect to the home.
• Making the Switch: Once approved, we disconnect the old septic system and hook the home's plumbing directly up to the new sewer line.
• Retiring the Septic Tank: We pump out the tank, safely puncture or collapse it, and fill the area so it can no longer hold water, following all health and safety guidelines.
• Yard Restoration: We clean up and restore any disturbed areas, including grass and landscaping, back to their original condition.

On average, work should take between 1 and 2 days, depending on the yard's layout and plumbing setup. We will work directly with each homeowner to schedule work so that we cause as little disruption as possible.

Our primary objective is to leave every property looking great when we’re finished! We will coordinate with homeowners before work begins to avoid gardens, swing sets, or personal property whenever possible. A Toho inspector will also be coordinated with to be on-site while work is happening to make sure nothing is adversely affected by us. If an issue arises, we will communicate with the homeowner to decide what the best course of action will be.

Following Florida Department of Health standards, we leave the tank structure in place. We will coordinate to have liquid and sludge pumped out of the tank. We’ll then puncture or collapse the tank so it won't hold water, and then we fill the space with clean sand or soil, level it out, and cover it with sod.

Thanks to HUD funding, this conversion project is FREE to every eligible Hopkins Park homeowner who formally signed an authorization agreement with Toho. Current mandates state that every homeowner needs to convert from septic to sewer when it’s available. Hopkins Park homeowners who don’t take advantage of the outside funding for their conversion to sewer will be charged for all work completed.
