Smith Street area sewer rehabilitation project

Toho Water Authority is conducting a sewer rehabilitation project in the Smith Street area and adjacent streets between US 192 and Ross Street. The work is being done to improve the sewer infrastructure in the area.

The project is expected to be completed by December 2026. Schedules may change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.

Most work takes place Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. There may be occasions where work will take place outside of these hours.

For everyone’s safety, road closures to thru traffic may be implemented as work progresses throughout the area. Access will be given to local traffic, delivery/transportation services, trash collection and emergency vehicles. Signage will be in place to keep the traveling public informed of the project.

Although not expected, driveways may be temporarily inaccessible for short periods of time. Crews will make efforts to inform residents beforehand. Any blocked driveways will be reopened by the end of the day.

Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution when approaching this area, as workers and construction equipment will be present. Speed limits may be reduced, sidewalks possibly closed, and foot traffic diverted.
